Rural GP – Ochre Medical Centre Strahan

The Organisation
With more than 65 medical centres and Urgent Care Clinics across five states and territories, Ochre Health is a service provider to over 500 doctors in a diverse range of regional, rural and urban communities.
Ochre Medical Centre Strahan has been servicing the local area for many years. It offers a broad range of general practice services including chronic disease management, emergency care and stabilisation, mental health, family planning and vaccinations, skin checks and minor procedures. On-call responsibilities will be shared across a sustainable and supportive roster.
As the gateway to the famous Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Macquarie Harbour and the departure point for the West Coast Wilderness Railway, Strahan is a major tourist destination in the warmer months, offering abundant outdoor activities (bushwalking, fishing, kayaking and beachcombing). It is a 4.5 hour drive from Hobart and 3 hours from Devonport.
Great opportunity for a solo GP working weekdays only in a beautiful harbourside tourist spot on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Flexible work options including part-time and shared FIFO.
DPA: Yes MMM: 6 Moratorium Period: 6 Years
The Position
Ochre Health is seeking a vocationally registered General Practitioner with no restrictions (FRACGP or FACRRM) to join its practice in Strahan, a unique, close-knit community and popular tourist destination on the stunning west coast of Tasmania. This is a universal bulk-billing practice with a well-established patient base.
You will be comfortable working in a solo-GP environment with remote support and will see a variety of cases, including work injuries. You will be supported by a CDM trained nurse, senior practice manager and visiting allied health professionals. Opening hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday (closed public holidays) with A&E facilities available at Queenstown (40 minutes away) and Burnie (2.25 hours).
