How We Help

Our Mission
To strengthen Tasmania’s health and care community by:

  • Improving access to primary health, allied health, disability and aged care services
  • Providing recruitment opportunities for primary health, allied health, disability (NDIS), and aged care employers
  • Expanding access to essential health care providers and services that are not currently available in communities

Our Vision
A Tasmania where everyone who needs support receives it – close to home, from people who truly care.

At The People Project, we believe that strong communities are built by working together.
Our Community Innovation work focuses on creating practical, local solutions that strengthen Tasmania’s primary health, disability, and aged care sectors – ensuring everyone can access quality care, close to home.

We partner with local organisations, service providers, and community members to identify what’s needed most in each region and co-design approaches that make a real difference. From supporting local service capacity to improving collaboration between health and community providers, our goal is to help communities grow and sustain their own support networks.

Through our Community Innovation projects, we turn ideas into action. Whether it’s piloting new health initiatives, supporting grassroots programs, or helping services collaborate more effectively, we focus on what works for each unique community. By listening, learning, and partnering with those on the ground, we help create lasting impact that empowers Tasmanians to live healthier, more connected lives.

It’s about local people meeting local needs – building connected, resilient, and inclusive communities across Tasmania.

Frequently Asked Questions

Access 2 Health Services (A2HS) is a project contracted by the Australian Government to improve access to healthcare in specific areas of North and North West Tasmania. The People Project operates statewide and provides support for disability (NDIS) and aged care services, but we are only responsible for delivering A2HS in the locations listed below.

We understand that this may be disappointing if you live outside these areas. Please know that we are more than happy to assist you in any way we can. If you are looking for help accessing health services and live outside the A2HS areas, our friendly team is here to guide you.

If you’d like more information about this program please visit the A2H website.

For more information about disability services, please visit our disability services page. Alternatively, you can contact our Health Services Navigator for further assistance.

For more information about aged care services, please visit our aged care services page. Alternatively, you can contact our Health Services Navigator for further assistance.

In January 2025, HR+ rebranded as The People Project, reflecting our commitment to providing a more connected, community-focused service across Tasmania. As part of this transition, we made the decision to integrate the HEAART program and its activities and initiatives fully into The People Project.

By integrating HEAART into our broader organisation, we are able to strengthen our services, reduce duplication, and make it easier for our communities to access the support they need. This change allows us to provide a more seamless, inclusive, and connected experience for everyone – whether you’re looking for health, disability, or aged care support – without having separate programs causing confusion.

Even though HEAART as a standalone program no longer exists, the spirit of collaboration and community innovation that it championed continues within The People Project. Our focus remains on working with local communities, supporting local services, and improving access to care across Tasmania.

We offer a variety of free support services for Allied Health professionals. We also have limited consulting rooms in George Town available for professionals wishing to service the area. Contact us to find out more.

Absolutely! While Access 2 Health Services (A2HS) is focused on certain areas, The People Project operates statewide for disability and aged care support. We’re happy to guide you to services or providers near you, no matter where you live.

If you provide professional services in health, disability, or aged care, or are a health professional looking to book a consulting room in George town, we’d love to hear from you.

Via the A2H program, we work with local providers in George Town, Meander Valley, and Northern Midlands to support the community and improve access to care.

Our Primary Health team supports health professionals across Tasmania. If you’re looking for work, recruitment, locum opportunities, or scholarship programs, please visit the Primary Health section of our website.
