GP/VMO – Ochre Medical Centre Flinders Island

GP/VMO Full time Flinders & King Island Date advertised: 15 May 2026

The Organisation

With more than 65 medical centres and Urgent Care Clinics across five states and territories, Ochre Health is a service provider to over 500 doctors in a diverse range of regional, rural and urban communities.

Looking for a sea change and a tree change? How about dolphins and wallabies?  Flinders Island is the largest of the Furneaux Group of islands, floating peacefully in Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia.  There is not a single set of traffic lights – instead fresh air, rugged granite peaks, white sand beaches and zero crowds.  You’ll be known by name and probably get fresh veggies from a grateful patient.  Surf in the morning, consult by day, hike after work.  Repeat.

If you do want to venture off island, it takes one hour to fly to Hobart or Melbourne, and 35 minutes to Launceston.

Escape the grind and practise medicine in paradise! Join the tight-knit team on Flinders Island, where your commute is more coastline than concrete and the locals genuinely want to shout you a coffee for being their GP. Full-time or FIFO.
