Cygnet Family Practice

Cygnet Family Practice
Location: Southern Tasmania       Occupation: General Practitioner       Title Description: GP       Position Type: Full Time, Permanent, Part Time
DPA: Yes       MMM: 5       Moratorium Period: 7 years

Cygnet Family Practice is seeking a VR GP with a passion for providing high quality, holistic healthcare within a multi-disciplinary team that values care, respect, community, and the environment. Located in Tasmania's stunning Huon Valley within 50 minutes' drive to Hobart, the practice offers the opportunity to practice and maintain your emergency and general practice medical skills.

The Position

Cygnet Family Practice is a medium-sized, mixed billing, accredited general practice. The team members are skilled, enthusiastic, and genuine in their patient care, and a wide variety of presentations makes for a rewarding and challenging clinical experience.

The practice is seeking an additional VR GP with no restrictions to join the team on a full-time/part-time basis.

Clinical expertise in chronic disease management would be an advantage and willingness to train and mentor registrars and medical students. An interest in nutritional medicine would be an advantage.

The general practice is currently open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm.

We provide an Urgent and After-Hours Service led by a nurse practitioner and community paramedic on Thursdays, Fridays from 10am until 8.30 pm, and Saturdays from 9am-8.30pm. This service supports our GPs with walk in presentations and prevents the GPs from double bookings and ‘fit ins”.

After hours on other days is covered by Healthdirect Australia, so there is no requirement for on-call.

The Organisation

The township of Cygnet is situated in the beautiful Huon Valley, less than an hour south of Hobart. The eclectic Cygnet community is most welcoming, and passionate about the environment in which they live. The area is a popular tourist destination and Cygnet is a growing community, with a bustling array of lifestyle choices including sailing, sports and music and arts festivals. There is a choice of local public and private schooling from kindergarten to Grade 10.

The practice team are excited about their expansion and vision for future innovative, efficient healthcare, and are keen for the new GP to live in the area and embrace the lifestyle of living and working in a country practice.

HR+ provide an invaluable service to Practice Managers in Tasmania. Jenny has acted as a mentoring support for me since I commenced at Don Medical Clinic in September 2018, and also supported me through networking events and education during my previous practice manager role in Hobart. Having a mentor like Jenny from HR+ has made a huge difference to me as I find my feet in the challenging world of practice management. I have found the support that HR+ provide, not only with mentoring but also the events put on by the Practice Support team, and the email support networking resources that are regularly provided, are invaluable and I am sure for many other practice managers in the state.
