Port Sorell Medical Centre is situated in a seaside community, based 15 minutes from Devonport on the North-West Coast of Tasmania. Currently they have a vacancy for a VR GP.
The Position
The opportunity offered is for a VR General Practitioner with flexible full-time or part-time hours within the practice opening hours. Current opening hours are 8.30am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am – 12pm on Saturday mornings. Saturday mornings are covered on a rotational roster system.
You will have the opportunity to consult in a modern purpose-built practice, offering services with nursing staff support, including preventative care and health assessments, chronic disease management including GPMP and TCA, CVC Veteran’s affairs program with nurse co-ordinator support, medicals, women’s health and contraception, men’s health, skin assessment and performing skin procedures such as removals and cryotherapy, travel vaccinations, immunisations, and emergency and acute family medicine.
Currently the practice shares an after-hours on-call system with two other local practices, covered initially by GP Assist. This means that when required, after-hours on-call is shared by a rostered system, with coverage being one-week each 6–7-month period, when required by GP assist.
Experience at all levels for a VR General Practitioners will be considered.

Port Sorell Medical Centre is in close proximity to both the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal as well as the Devonport Airport. Located just 1 hour from Launceston and 3 hours of Hobart.
The practice offers a mixed billing model, MMM5 location, owned by local General Practitioners who currently work in the practice. The practice is a supportive, friendly working environment where the team members feel more like family rather than colleagues, enjoying social activities, team building, and celebrating each other’s cultures and cultural festivities.
Port Sorell Medical Centre prides itself on being a community minded practice, where their multi-cultural, very experienced team of seven general practitioners are supported by four experienced nursing staff, a Medical Practice Assistant and experienced phlebotomist, as well as a highly experienced reception and management team.

On offer is a permanent full-time or part-time position with your renumeration based on a percentage of your billings under an independent service agreement. You can bring your own interests or specialty to our practice, and we will work with you to develop programs, or clinics, or treatments, based on these interests and specialties.
